Air Quality Consultation

Medway Council currently has four Air Quality Management Areas which are above the annual objective for nitrogen dioxide (a pollutant present in vehicle exhaust emissions).

The air quality management areas are:

  • Central Medway
  • Pier Road, Gillingham
  • High Street, Rainham
  • Medway Four Elms Hill

Reducing road transport emissions within the Air Quality Management Areas and the wider area is a key air quality priority to help towards achieving their air quality objectives.

Tackling the Central Medway, Pier Road (Gillingham) and Rainham High Street Air Quality Management Areas falls under the current Air Quality Action Plan. This was approved by cabinet in December 2015.

Have your say on Four Elms Hill

Medway Council declared a new (fourth) Air Quality Management Area at Four Elms Hill, Chattenden in October 2017.

They now need to develop an Air Quality Action Plan for the area to work towards improving the air quality.

If you regularly commute through Four Elms Hill, Medway Council would like to hear your views.

How to have your say

Medway Council would like to get the views of residents, local businesses and stakeholders. They want to know what you feel the issue are and how they can work towards improving the air quality in Four Elms Hill.
