Stanley was born in Borstal and was a runner from trench to trench in the Battle of the Somme. His father was a policeman and he died in High Halstow. He has a daughter living in the Village
William was born 10th December 1900 and joined the Royal Navy at 15 (under age). When his photograph was taken he was only 16. he was invalided out when he contracted malaria. he died in Frindsbury in 1967.
Frederick was born in the 1890’s and died in High Halstow on 2nd March 1970. He was a crane driver and lived in Sharnal Street until his death. He has a daughter in Gravesend
Little is known of Ernest apart from that he lived in Stoke and was married to Pru and has a nephew living in Hoo.
Wilfred was in the North West Kents in India. He was born in 1898 at Clinch Street, High Halstow and died in Hoo on 11th October 1987. he worked for the Kent River Catchment Board and also Berry Wiggins where he worked until well over his retirement age. His son lives in Hoo.
William was born on 29th June 1900 and died 7th September 1971 in High Halstow. He lived in Sharnal Street most of his life and has a son in Chatham and a niece in Gravesend.
Arthur was born in 1892 and was in the Army Service Corp serving in the Midlands. He worked for a baker in Hoo before the war and worked at Eastborough Farm after the war where he broke his arm trying to start the lorry. He died from heart failure in St Bartholomew’s Hospital on 17th December 1934. He has a son living in the village
Regiment – The Royal Fusiliers. Lewis signed up 26th March 1908 aged 15.He was a harness and saddler maker. He has a son who still lives in the village
Privates William and Arthur Fritter. William 4th from left front row and Arthur 5th from right front row. Both were in the Royal West kents and have a nephew living in the Village
