The Village Hall Committee are pleased to announce the works have started on Phase 1 of the refurbishment programme. This phase will see a new back wall, new fire doors, additional room in the roof space and a new roof over the main part of the Hall

This is being paid for by the fund raising carried out by the Hall Committee and the Parish Council. Work is being undertaken to raise funds for the next phase which should be to completely renovate the front of the Hall

Further to George Crozer’s comments regarding the hall and required funding I would like to add my views. Our Hall is the focal point of the village and being in the middle of the Village known and seen by all. It has so many uses, namely the Doctors Surgery, which means people do not have to catch a bus for their medication etc. for varying functions i.e dinners and the like. attended by village members without the necessity to drive which are attended even without central heating at present purely because of the Village attmosphere. There are many other uses as well private functions such as weddings, shows, patomines which are performed each each year by members of High Halstow community and surrounding villages. I personally and my husband have spent very many happy hours in the Village Hall and trust it will continue but as George Crozier stated more funding is required to bring it up to speed as it were. So many people in this Village give their time and effort voluntarily to keep our community spirit whether it being litter picking, driving the Villager Bus so that older members can travel easily etc. that it would be so very welcome if we could obtain funding to keep our community the clean, friendly place it is.
So even in tthis time of recession can anybody see a way of helping, we do not want to lose what we have and our children with no where to go by losing the Youth Club and the like

    Regards

  2. At last ! It’s great to see the start of the Village Hall refurbishment which should see a replacement roof with a new room in the loft space and a more substantial new rear wall . Whilst the Hall is undergoing phase one of its refit users have had to find alternative accommodation. Thankfully Mrs Sandford has generously allowed some groups to use the school facilities which is most appreciated. It is odd how you don’t really appreciate something until you are without it.

The committee are busy seeking further funding for phases two and three which will bring important changes to the front area of the hall and enable us to provide new doctor surgery and waiting room facilities, rewiring and most importantly …central heating..!!
    Kind regards
